Wave energy converters are designed to capture and convert the motion of ocean waves into electricity or mechanical energy. Tidal energy converters harnesses the reliable and predictable movement of tidal currents, transforming this kinetic energy into electricity. 

Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) is the geothermal of the ocean, exploiting the temperature difference between warm surface water and colder water at depth to run a heat engine. Salinity gradient technologies use the difference in salt concentration between seawater and freshwater to generate electricity.  Offshore wind harnesses the kinetic energy of winds blowing across the ocean surface. Finally, floating solar technologies take conventional solar PC arrays into the offshore environment.
